Job description
SUNY Adirondack is a teaching- and learning-centered community college that fosters a diverse and equitable learning environment for students of all ages, backgrounds, goals, and learning styles. A member of the State University of New York, the College enrolls approximately 3,000 students in more than 30 unique academic programs that prepare students for both work and transfer to four-year institutions. The College is located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, one hour north of Albany and thirty minutes from Saratoga Springs. A bachelor's degree is attainable on campus through SUNY Plattsburgh's branch campus. SUNY Adirondack's students include a diversity of backgrounds, ages, interests and origins. Major Responsibilities
SUNY Adirondack is seeking qualified candidates to help support our Journeyworker: Technical Trades Management AOS Program as an adjunct faculty member. This program is designed to enable individuals who have achieved Federal or State accredited Building Trades Journeyworker status to gain additional skills in construction management.
This specific position would be focused on teaching courses in Construction Management and Construction Estimating. Specific topics include (but are not limited to) construction economic considerations and scheduling; building codes and other government regulations; labor, material and equipment cost estimates; and estimated depreciation costs.
Requirements
Teaching experience at the college level is highly desirable, especially experience in a community college environment. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy, familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom, teaching strategies with a focus on student-centered learning, excellent interpersonal skills, and a willingness to work in a collegial setting within the division., The successful applicant will have a Master's Degree in Engineering, Technology or related field. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology or related field and years of industry construction management or estimating experience will be considered.
Benefits & conditions
Adjuncts' salary is based on the number of credit hours per semester, remunerated at the rate of $1,285 per credit hour.
