Job description

We are hiring for our client, an early-stage technology company looking for a hands-on macOS DevOps Engineer to build, operate, and scale macOS infrastructure., * Build, operate, and scale macOS data center infrastructure

  • Develop automation using Swift and shell scripting such as Bash or Zsh
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, systems, and production issues
  • Own CI/CD workflows and infrastructure automation
  • Work on macOS/Linux systems at scale
  • Improve reliability, performance, and operational efficiency across the infrastructure
  • Collaborate with a fast-moving engineering team in a startup environment

Requirements

Do you have experience in Swift?, This role is ideal for someone with strong systems, automation, and infrastructure experience who has worked with macOS or Linux environments at scale. The right candidate should be comfortable writing production-level Swift, building automation with shell scripting, and owning CI/CD and infrastructure workflows., * 2-7 years of total experience in systems engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, or related roles

  • 2+ years of production experience with Swift
  • 3+ years of experience working with macOS and/or Linux systems at scale
  • Strong shell scripting experience, especially Bash or Zsh
  • Experience owning CI/CD workflows
  • Startup, VC-backed company, or high-growth engineering environment experience
  • Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Strong Plus:

  • Experience operating macOS fleets or macOS infrastructure
  • Apple experience or strong Apple ecosystem background
  • Hands-on experience with MDM tools such as Jamf or Kandji
  • Low-level macOS systems knowledge
  • Open-source contributions, technical writing, GitHub projects, or systems research background
  • High ownership mindset and strong execution ability

Not a Fit:

  • Pure iOS app developers with no infrastructure experience
  • Mac IT admins without coding or automation experience
  • Pure Linux SREs with no Apple/macOS exposure
  • Candidates with frequent job changes under 12 months
  • Candidates unable to work in or relocate to San Francisco
