Job description

You will work with modern technologies including Java, Kafka, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and time-series databases to build scalable systems capable of processing high-volume telemetry and operational data in real time.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex scalability, streaming, observability, and distributed systems challenges.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services for ingesting and processing large-scale time-series data.
  • Design and build distributed backend services and APIs for real-time ingestion, querying, and analytics of high-volume telemetry data.
  • Build scalable streaming and ETL/ELT pipelines for real-time data processing workloads.
  • Optimize query performance, indexing strategies, partitioning, and storage architectures for time-series workloads.
  • Design systems capable of handling high-ingestion, high-cardinality workloads and millions of data points per second.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, platform teams, and operational stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Contribute to observability, monitoring, alerting, uptime, and platform reliability initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across distributed systems and cloud-native environments.
  • Ensure code quality, scalability, maintainability, and operational reliability in production systems.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Web services design?, * 5+ years of experience developing backend, data-intensive, or distributed systems in production environments.

  • Strong proficiency with developing production systems in Java.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience writing and optimizing complex time-windowed queries.
  • Experience with time-series query languages such as PromQL, Flux, MetricQL, or advanced SQL window functions.
  • Hands-on experience working with at least one major time-series database such as InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, Prometheus, OpenTSDB, or VictoriaMetrics.
  • Experience designing and building REST or gRPC APIs.
  • Experience building real-time ingestion or streaming pipelines using Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of time-series data modeling, retention policies, aggregation, compression, and downsampling strategies.
  • Experience handling high-ingestion, high-cardinality workloads.
  • Experience designing scalable distributed systems and tuning performance for large-scale workloads.
  • Understanding of storage architecture concepts including partitioning, tiered storage, and hot/cold data separation strategies.
  • Strong experience deploying and operating distributed services using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience implementing observability, alerting, uptime monitoring, and reliability practices for distributed platforms.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident-response mindset with experience debugging production systems.
  • Ability to translate operational and business requirements into scalable technical solutions and platform SLAs.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Experience working in Oil & Gas, Energy, Industrial Automation, or other operational technology (OT) environments.
  • Experience working with SCADA systems such as Ignition, Wonderware, WinCC, or CygNet.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, OPC, Modbus, or telemetry-based systems.
  • Experience working with real-time telemetry, IoT, or industrial data platforms.
  • Experience working with telemetry, sensor, operational, or machine-generated data at scale.
