Job description

The Field Technician executes installation services as defined under applicable agreements and performs work to required technical, quality, and safety standards. This role independently performs installation and cabling services in live, mission-critical data center environments with little to no guidance from lead technicians. The Field Technician supports quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes and provides mentorship to junior Field Trainee Technicians. Fieldwork may include overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-hours. Travel may be required based on business needs., * Execute installation services as defined under contractual agreements, ensuring compliance with all technicals, safety, QA, and QC standards

  • Perform all installation and cabling services required for the role without supervision, including routing, terminating, labeling, and testing copper and fiber optic cabling
  • Establish scope, work plans, and procedures with minimal guidance from lead technicians
  • Perform rack and stack operations, patch panel installations, cable dressing, and structured cabling to maintain clean, organized, and high-performing systems
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and restore complex, multi-domain failures across fiber optic and twisted pair systems, including loss of signal, low signal, and interface errors
  • Diagnose physical connectivity issues, hardware failures, and support break/fix activities; identify and resolve issues independently without escalation
  • Read and interpret cable maps, schematics, and floor layouts to support installation and troubleshooting activities
  • Maintain accurate documentation, asset tracking, and service reports for all assigned work
  • Support QA and QC requirements for assigned projects and installations
  • Work effectively in live, operational, mission-critical data center environments
  • Coordinate with engineers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project milestones and quality standards are met
  • Follow all data center safety, security, and change management procedures
  • Train and mentor junior Field Trainee Technicians, supporting their development and adherence to standards
  • Respond to onsite service requests and travel to regional data center sites as needed

Requirements

Do you have experience in System testing?, * Advanced troubleshooting skills across fiber optic and copper cabling systems

  • Familiarity with PON or point-to-multipoint network deployments utilizing simplex fiber and non-standard wavelengths
  • Proficiency in fiber optic testing using OTDR and OLTS equipment
  • Certified in fiber splicing techniques and best practices
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, testing methodologies, and documentation requirements
  • Knowledge of cabling standards including Cat5e, Cat6/6A, single-mode, and multi-mode fiber
  • Working knowledge of server hardware, network devices, and basic networking concepts
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate independently while maintaining quality, safety, and customer standards, * 3 or more years of documented industry experience in data center, structured cabling, or field service environments
  • Experience performing work in operational environments and on projects within live mission-critical data centers
  • Experience working in enterprise or hyperscale data center environments
