The Senior Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains data processing solutions that enable the efficient transformation of structured and unstructured data into meaningful insights. Working closely with engineers and cross functional partners, this role contributes to data ingestion from internal and external sources using cloud-native platforms, established engineering best practices, and proven design patterns.
This position supports the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data solutions and supporting software applications based on business requirements. The work involves moderately complex to complex problem solving and requires in-depth analysis of data, systems, and variable factors. The Data Engineer ensures reliable collection, storage, processing, and analysis of large data sets while aligning solutions with enterprise architecture standards.

We are seeking a talented Senior Da ta Engineer who is passionate about building innovative data solutions and contributing to pioneering work within the space technology domain. This role is well suited for a collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, iterative delivery environment and is motivated by solving complex problems.
The Senior Data Engineer will design, build, maintain, and optimize scalable data pipelines and data-driven solutions. This role focuses on developing systems for collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing large volumes of data while ensuring high standards of data quality, reliability, and performance. The successful candidate will evaluate and select appropriate technologies, implement and monitor data workflows, and continuously improve data platform capabilities.
This position requires close collaboration with software engineering and analytics teams to integrate data solutions into shared platforms and architectures, applying strong engineering principles to support both business and analytical needs.
Responsibilities Include
- Design, develop, and maintain scalabledata pipelines and workflowsusingAzure Databricks
- Develop and maintainSAS programs and SSIS packagesfor intermediate and downstream data processing
- Write, optimize, and maintaincomplex SQL queriesto support data transformation and analytical use cases
- Design and buildETL/ELT pipelinesintegrating data from multiple internal and external source systems
- Select, implement, and supportBig Data tools and frameworksfor data processing and integration
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolvecomplex data processing issues, applyingroot causeanalysis and preventative fixes
- Optimize data pipelines forperformance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Recommend and supportinfrastructure improvementsto meet evolving data volume and processing demands
- Partner withproduct management and SRE teamsto define requirements and translate them into actionable engineering work
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, stakeholders, andcross functionalteams to ensure alignment ondata strategy, architecture, and outcomes +, To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, orcomputing relateddisciplineor equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of experiencedesigning and buildingproduction gradebatch data pipelinesfor data ingestion and transformation
- 8+ years of overall experience in data engineering or related roles
- Strong proficiency in the following technologies:SQL, Databricks,Python, Apache Spark, Git,Azure Services (Synapse, Azure ADLS Gen 2)
- Strong understanding of relational database principles, data modeling, database management, and data warehousing.
- Strong knowledge of Big Data querying tools
- Experience optimizing large-scale data pipelines and ETL workflows.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice to have Qualifications
- Experience working on cloud migrations and legacy modernization.
- Experience working with Snowflake.
- Experience working in a healthcare space and designing systems to protect member PHI and PII.

Work-At-Home Requirements, The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$117,600 - $161,700 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
