Job description
One of our largest defense customers is looking for a trusted Lead IT Operations Lead to lead complex cloud and infrastructure environments, ensuring stability and performance in a highly visible role. As the IT Operations lead, you'll be the technical lead overseeing a complex, enterprise-scale IT environment managed by a global outsourced provider. You'll drive performance, ensure service delivery, and serve as the key escalation point for critical issues across infrastructure, cloud, network, and security operations. In this role, you'll coordinate across multiple stakeholders, balancing internal priorities with outsourced execution, and constantly push for operational excellence, issue resolution, and service optimization. You must be comfortable as an advisor for overall initiatives in alignment with requirements. You will lead / participate in root cause analysis for major incidents to help identify underlying issues and implement long-term solutions.
Requirements
- 7+ years of IT Operations experience, including direct oversight of outsourced IT service providers (MSPs)
- Proven experience in a technical lead / senior operational role
- Strong foundation in IT infrastructure (networking, VPN, DNS, firewalls, Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, virtualization - VMware)
- Experience with SAP environments (S/4, RISE, BTP)
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure Gov, AWS Gov) and CloudOps best practices
- Familiarity with ITSM frameworks (ITIL Foundation preferred)
- Proficiency with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, DataDog, etc.) and IT ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira)
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and operational risk management
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Aerospace, Defense, Highly regulated environment industry experience
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, IT, or related field - Involvement in root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes
- Familiarity with security audits and compliance-driven environments
- Dashboard/report creation for operational KPIs and SLA tracking
- Ability to align IT operations with evolving business priorities
Benefits & conditions
Compensation: $60-90/HR Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401K retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
