Working under the guidance of senior designers and engineers, this role focuses on drafting, updating, and refining technical drawings and layouts using industry-standard CAD tools. The designer contributes directly to critical power delivery projects by transforming engineering concepts and field updates into clear, buildable design documents., * Update plan and profile sheets and TGIS when transmission lines have been modified or updated in the field to ensure all documentation remains current and accurate.
- Use MicroStation and ArcGIS on a daily basis to create, edit, and refine high-quality transmission line design drawings.
- Assist Transmission Line Engineers in preparing complete sheet sets for new transmission line projects, ensuring all required views and details are included.
- Draft and detail drawings for medium to high-voltage electrical transmission lines with the support and guidance of higher-level graphics technicians and designers.
- Create detailed transmission drawings such as transmission line plans and profiles, transmission structure analysis and detailed design drawings, transmission structure foundation plans, and transmission structure anchor details under the direction of senior staff.
- Perform a variety of routine drafting assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including determining drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components, and refining rough sketches into finished drawings.
- Produce complete plan sets based on verbal or written descriptions from designers and engineers, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
- Apply basic formulas, engineering principles, and drafting practices to support the development of safe and reliable transmission line designs., This role operates in a quiet engineering office environment designed to support focused technical work.
