Job description

The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for designing fire protection systems, ensuring quality and compliance at every step, and coordinating cross-functionally with sales and operations teams., * Design commercial fire sprinkler systems for a wide range of industries

  • Produce hydraulic calculations and system sizing for projects
  • Use CAD in the design of fire protection systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as sales, purchasing, fabrication, installation, and service to ensure water-based fire sprinkler system designs meet customer needs, quality, safety standards, and project timelines
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and AJH's independently
  • Ensure design adheres to state and local standards for the design of water-based fire sprinkler systems
  • Conduct construction site review/survey on buildings if needed.
  • Submit plans to General Contractors/owners and follow specifications.
  • Finalize fabrication techniques with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Complete final shop drawings showing all pertinent information
  • Generate materials lists for completed designs
  • Compile the foreman's pack, including all necessary forms and paperwork.
  • Process all necessary close-out documents

Requirements

  • 5+ years of current fire sprinkler design experience
  • NICET certification preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA standards 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, and 25
  • Understand of code compliance and local AHJ requirements for standard systems
  • Ideally experience designing in AutoSPRINK
  • BIM coordination experience is a plus
  • Apply mathematical concepts, such as geometry, fractions, and measuring
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as blueprints, codes, standards, specifications, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in-person and electronically
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
