Founding Full Stack Engineer

We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer who can own meaningful end-to-end parts of the product. You'll work across the React Native frontend, the backend services powering it, and the supporting portals that keep our merchant and operations teams moving. This is a high-ownership role where you'll ship features that users and merchants interact with every day.

What You'll Own

User-Facing App (Frontend)

• Build and maintain the core iOS application using React Native with Expo
• Deliver polished, performant UI/UX that feels native to the platform
• Implement new features, screens, and flows from design through production release

Backend & Integration

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Hono.js on Cloudflare
• Own the full integration layer between the backend and the React Native frontend
• Manage the MySQL database layer, schema design, query optimization, and migrations
• Integrate and maintain payment systems within the app (processing, webhooks, error handling)

Supporting Portals & Tooling

• Build and improve the Merchant Portal, the internal-facing web app merchants use to manage their presence on Around
• Develop statistics and analytics dashboards for internal and merchant use
• Ensure seamless data flow between the app, merchant portal, and backend systems

Must-Have Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in React Native with Expo for mobile app development
• Hands-on experience building and deploying backend services with Hono.js on Cloudflare
• Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly MySQL
• Experience integrating third-party payment systems into production applications
• Proven ability to own features end-to-end, from database schema to pixel-perfect UI
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with high autonomy

Nice to Have

• Current student or recent graduate from Columbia University
• MS in Computer Science
• Does not require a Visa
• Based in NYC
• Experience publishing apps to the Apple App Store
• Familiarity with the Cloudflare ecosystem
• Background in building merchant-facing or admin tools
• Experience with analytics/data visualization libraries
• Understanding of mobile performance profiling and optimization
