We're expanding our engineering team to meet the growing demands of our B2B partners and B2C users. With a robust product roadmap and new opportunities on the horizon, we're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our product engineering teams, scale delivery, and grow the engineers on the team. The specific team you'll lead will depend on your background and where we need it most. This role offers the chance to work closely with co-founders, product leadership, and senior engineers, contributing directly to the growth of the company as we move from Seed to Series A and beyond. The position is based in Austin, TX. What you'll do
- Lead a team of 4-8 engineers on a product engineering team.
- Stay deep in the code and ship features alongside your team.
- Own delivery end to end-planning, prioritization, scope tradeoffs, on-time shipping, performance management-in partnership with your PM.
- Run design reviews, code review standards, on-call, standup, and incident response.
- Grow engineers through regular 1:1s, real feedback, career conversations, and stretch work; performance manage when needed.
- Lead hiring for your team and help raise the bar across the organization.
Requirements
- 7+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineers directly with a record of development.
- Strong technical foundation; you've shipped production features, run design reviews, debugged production incidents, and made architecture tradeoffs.
- Backend-leaning full-stack experience with Ruby (Grape) and React/Next.js, TypeScript on the frontend; comfortable with third-party APIs, observability, on-call, incident management, AWS, and Terraform.
- Experience leading AI coding agents in production and encouraging the team to adopt similar practices.
- Strong communication skills and a self-starter mindset; able to represent engineering to non-technical stakeholders and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced, early-stage environment.
- Empathy for our end users, including low- to moderate-income renters, and a desire to build impactful products.
Benefits & conditions
- Competitive salary with stock options.
- Full healthcare coverage (health, dental, vision) including 50% coverage for dependents.
- 15 days of paid time off per year, 3 sick days, and all U.S. federal holidays.
- Company-issued laptop/MacBook.
- Company-sponsored training and development.
- Regular off-sites, retreats, and other company-sponsored events and travel opportunities.
