Job description

We are seeking a Design Engineer 3 to serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical design and stress analysis (FEA). In this role, you will support projects across the full product lifecycle - including new development, legacy support, R&D, and failure analysis; primarily for high-pressure, high-temperature pneumatic and fluid line systems used in commercial, military, and space aerospace applications.This position operates independently 75%+ of the time and collaborates with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sales., There are two primary job functions: Detailed component design and FEA based stress analysis., * Work closely with Project Engineers, Drafters, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Test Lab, Contracts, and Sales.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Astronautical, or related field (MS preferred).

Experience

  • 5+ years in an engineering design environment.

  • 4 years using FEA tools (HyperWorks, Femap/NASTRAN, or ANSYS Mechanical).

Technical Requirements

  • Required:

  • Linear & nonlinear static FEA

  • Modal, harmonic, and random response analysis (owning in depth analysis not passing off to another engineer)

  • Topology optimization

  • Metallic additive manufacturing design

  • GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018/2009 -Hyperworks OR Hypermesh or any exposure to Altair products

  • Contact analysis

  • Simulation of metal forming

  • SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD software

  • Experience with Stainless Steel, Titanium, Inconel, and superalloys
