Job description
The Water Quality Association (WQA) is seeking a strategic and hands-on IT Director to lead technology strategy, operations, and cybersecurity across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring that technology systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals while supporting staff productivity and innovation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative IT leader who can balance long-term strategy with day-to-day execution and drive meaningful impact in a mission-driven organization. This role follows a hybrid schedule, with an expectation of working onsite in Lisle, IL three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of a multi-year IT strategy aligned with organizational priorities and budget
- Oversee cybersecurity program, including identity management, data protection, and risk mitigation
- Manage IT operations including cloud platforms (Microsoft 365), enterprise systems, and end-user technology
- Manage IT staff and external service providers, including managed services and software vendors
- Establish and maintain IT policies, governance practices, and compliance standards
- Partner with business leaders to identify needs and implement effective technology solutions
- Lead system selection, implementation, and lifecycle management, including ROI and business case development
- Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery and continuity planning
- Promote cybersecurity awareness and best practices across the organization
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of progressive IT leadership experience
- Strong expertise in cybersecurity, cloud environments, and enterprise systems
- Experience managing vendors and aligning IT strategy with business needs
- Knowledge of IT governance, project management, and service management practices
- Experience in nonprofit, association, or similar environment preferred
