Job description
- Partner with business stakeholders to elicit data-related requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Design, build, and maintain ETL processes to support enterprise data warehousing and system integrations
- Develop and optimize data models to drive business insights and value
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot data pipelines and existing processes
- Establish and promote best practices for data transformation, preparation, and analytics enablement
- Support reporting and data visualization initiatives as needed
- Ensure adherence to data governance practices including documentation, security, and access controls
- Perform data validation, quality checks, and integrity assurance
- Apply data classification and masking techniques to protect sensitive information
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team standards
- Design scalable, modern data architectures and pipelines
- Integrate data from multiple sources into a unified ecosystem
- Automate workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and confidentiality standards
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development
- Participate in project communication and coordination efforts
- Travel occasionally as needed for project work
Requirements
Our client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their growing data team in a full-time, direct hire role. This position is ideal for a highly skilled professional with deep expertise in Microsoft data technologies who thrives in a collaborative, fully remote environment., * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL databases and data warehousing tools, including:
- SQL Server
- Azure SQL
- Azure Synapse
- 7+ years of ETL development experience using Microsoft technologies such as:
- SSIS
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Microsoft Fabric
- 2+ years of recent experience with Microsoft Fabric
- 7+ years developing semantic data models (Analysis Services Tabular, Power BI, Fabric)
- Strong experience with Kimball data warehousing methodologies
- Expertise in SQL development (queries, stored procedures, views, functions)
- Experience with:
- Azure Data Lake Storage (Gen2)
- Spark Notebooks
- Databricks
- REST APIs
- Familiarity with medallion architecture design patterns
- Experience with Azure DevOps or similar tools
- Programming experience in Python and PowerShell
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fully remote, collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience provisioning data solutions in Azure
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Redgate or Azure Log Analytics
- Familiarity with Dynamics 365 (D365) ERP modules and data structures
- Experience with R programming
- Microsoft DP-700 Certification
