Job description

An established engineering and manufacturing business based in Rochdale is looking to recruit a Design Engineer specifically for their Customer Service Repairs & Rebuild team. This Design Engineering role will support refurbishment, rebuild and service projects for complex capital equipment. This is a varied and hands-on engineering role combining design, problem solving, customer support and project coordination. You'll work closely with manufacturing, service, purchasing and engineering teams to deliver refurbishment and rebuild solutions for existing machinery and components. The role would suit someone with experience in mechanical design, refurbishment, service engineering or rebuild projects who enjoys investigating problems, improving equipment reliability and supporting projects from concept through to delivery. The Role You'll be responsible for:

  • Producing assembly, manufacturing and refurbishment drawings using SolidWorks
  • Creating BOMs, work instructions and technical documentation
  • Supporting repairs, rebuilds and refurbishment projects from initial inspection through to completion
  • Providing technical support to internal teams and customers
  • Producing reports and recommendations on used machinery and components
  • Supporting manufacturing and assembly teams during build activity
  • Managing engineering changes and documentation updates
  • Supporting continuous improvement and value engineering activity
  • Attending technical meetings, inspections and customer visits when required

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification (Degree, HND, ONC or similar)
  • Previous experience within service, repairs, refurbishment or rebuild engineering
  • Strong SolidWorks and 3D CAD experience
  • Ability to produce manufacturing drawings and BOMs
  • Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Good problem-solving and fault-finding ability
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple tasks

Experience with GD&T, DFMA, hydraulics, fabrication or capital equipment machinery would be highly beneficial.
