We are seeking Platform Engineers who are passionate about creating and supporting DevOps tools with emerging technologies to join our team. As a Platform Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.
The Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) Technology division is responsible for enabling and evolving Capital One's foundational cloud infrastructure layer, including observability, connectivity, resilience and availability.c
What You'll Do:
- Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
- Continuously improve software engineering practices
- Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
- Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
- Utilize scripting languages like Python, SQL, Ruby and Groovy, Container Orchestration services including Docker and ECS, CM tools including Ansible and Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
- At least 6 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)
- At least 4 years of experience with AWS
- At least 2 years of team leadership experience, * Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of experience with Palo Alto Networks NGFW, including Panorama
- 7+ years of experience with network switching, routing, load balancing, and firewall solutions
- 7+ years of experience with scripting using Python, Ansible, or Terraform
- 5+ years of experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- 5+ years of experience with Intrusion Detection or Protection systems
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Riverwoods, IL: $149,800 - $171,000 for Lead Platform Engineer
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
