Job description
The University of Alcalá is seeking a young researcher to join the IntTrade project under the Programme for Young Researchers of the Community of Madrid within the ESF+ STEP Programme. The position involves research and development activities focused on the design, implementation and validation of data science tools applied to international trade analysis, with special emphasis on the Community of Madrid. The selected candidate will contribute to the development of structured trade databases, automated data pipelines, predictive models for export/import flows and the Python package IntTrade. Tasks include data architecture and quality control, statistical and exploratory analysis, predictive modelling, software development in Python, scientific dissemination and preparation of reproducible analytical materials.
Requirements
The position is offered under a full-time temporary contract (37.5 hours/week) for a duration of 1 year, from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, with a gross monthly salary of €1,988.01. Applicants must be under 30 years old, registered as unemployed job seekers in Spain at the start of the contract, hold a Bachelor's degree and demonstrate advanced knowledge of Python programming. Knowledge of English, data science, economics, international trade, statistics or related fields will be positively valued. The selection process will be based on a blind CV evaluation, academic background, adequacy to the research programme and motivation towards an academic research career.
