Job description

As Solutions Architect, you'll set the technical north star for a federal IT modernization program spanning SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure integrations, and enterprise data architecture. You'll define the reference architectures, evaluate object/data models, design the network architectures that host visualization workloads, and produce the technical reports that drive agency modernization decisions. The role bridges the strategist and the builder - you're as comfortable in front of agency leadership defending an architecture roadmap as you are in a design review evaluating a microservices integration pattern. Expect to own enterprise architecture artifacts, cloud governance guidelines, and the risk assessments that gate the introduction of new technology into a sensitive federal data environment., Enterprise & data architecture

  • Provide enterprise/system architecture guidance on IT solutions, data management, business alignment, and strategy
  • Develop and enhance data architecture strategies, frameworks, and roadmaps aligned with federal policies
  • Develop and update enterprise architecture to enable timely modernization of information management services and solutions
  • Advance new ideas and evaluate object/data models to improve data access and management
  • Perform data modeling, interpretation, and analysis to address dissemination methods and large-volume data management; design complex databases and data storage appropriate as enterprise solutions, ensuring operational efficiency

Cloud, network & infrastructure

  • Provide guidelines for architecture and cloud usage and implement architecture governance
  • Include long-term architecture and cloud solutions when meeting business needs
  • Instruct the design of network architectures and systems to enable hosting of target services and solutions
  • Integrate shared microservices as part of modernization initiatives
  • Evaluate computing environments related to data architecture and cloud solutions and produce technical reports
  • Perform backend infrastructure assessments for data storage, visualization, and analytics, and assess performance of computer backend infrastructure supporting massive analytical and computational transactions

Risk & technical reporting

  • Support enterprise architecture updates and provide technical guidance for hosting solutions
  • Assess the risks of implementing new technology and design and recommend countermeasures considering integration and interoperability with existing federal platforms and IT policies

Requirements

Do you have experience in Systems integration?, * 10+ years enterprise/solution architecture; 5+ years in federal environments

  • Demonstrated expertise across Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online/On-Prem, Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate, Dynamics, Teams), and Azure integrations
  • Data architecture and modeling experience aligned to federal data strategy
  • Experience producing architecture artifacts: roadmaps, reference architectures, cloud usage governance
  • Cloud certification preferred (Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS SA Pro, or equivalent)

Ideal Candidate

A builder-architect, not a slideware architect. You've shipped Microsoft 365 and Power Platform solutions inside federal boundaries, you understand why backend performance under "maximum efficiency" matters when an analyst runs a query against decades of records, and you can explain a microservices pattern to a program officer without losing them. You write architecture documents that engineers actually use and that auditors actually accept.
