Job description

Refugee Artisan Initiative, a 501c3 non-profit located in the Lake City Community of Seattle, WA is seeking to hire a full-time Development Manager. The Development Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic approach to individual, corporate and foundation donors contributing to the overall fundraising for the organization. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, engaging, organized, pro-active and self-motivated team player. The ideal candidate wants to work with a growing, high-impact non-profit organization and is inspired by the mission, goals and values of Refugee Artisan Initiative. The Development Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the Board of Directors, and Grants, Program, and Operations/Finance teams to ensure fundraising efforts match organization needs., FUNDRAISING STRATEGY

  • Develop and grow a comprehensive multi-year fundraising strategy and donor cultivation and engagement campaign to include individuals, corporations and foundations that is in alignment with the Strategic Plan as set by the Executive Manager and Board of Directors.

  • Identify areas of growth, opportunities for increased visibility and donor engagement, public and private support, and increased funding for RAI

  • Continually identify individuals and organizations as new donor prospects; prepare tailored solicitation proposals; write and track debriefing materials for meetings with donors and prospects

  • Giving Campaigns: Create and execute monthly, quarterly and annual giving strategies (e.g. GiveBIG, Giving Tuesday, end-of-year fundraising) in collaboration with the Communications Manager and a RAI annual donor cultivation campaign

  • In partnership with the Communications Manager, develop impact-driven messaging resources and donor-facing marketing materials to support fundraising efforts

  • Ensure donor stewardship and engagement: Maintain and enhance long-term relationships with donors and prospects through proper stewardship; strategize, plan, and track donor engagement events and opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to develop implementation plans.

  • Donor Database: Oversee and update (in concert with the administrative team) the detailed and accurate donor database including gift entry, tracking, reporting, and acknowledgment system. (Familiarity with Bonterra and Greater Giving a plus)

  • Events: Support and lead the staff providing support for RAI fundraising events (Annual Gala) in partnership with the Board Development Committee. Provide staff training, administrative support, and day-of-event oversight (occasional evening/weekend support required)

  • Collaborate for major gifts: Partner with team members, board members, and Executive Director to build out a more robust major gifts program

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to interface with donors, identifying and initiate meetings with key donors and Executive Director as appropriate

  • Support the Executive Director and Board of Directors to engage with public officials, legislators, and civic leaders to pursue city, county, state and federal allocations and other public funding opportunities

  • Work with RAI Executive Director, the board of Directors, and staff to identify, build, and steward relationships with the community, civic and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor development and engagement in RAI activities

  • Partner with Marketing & Communications Manager with fundraising messaging and materials and create cohesive fundraising messaging between individuals, corporations, foundation, public sector, and community partnerships

  • Plan and ensure appropriate stewardship of all gifts, including thank you correspondence, events, and listing of donors in publications and websites, The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Pay: $68,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year

Requirements

Do you have experience in Social media platforms?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree

  • 3-5+ years of non-profit fundraising experience, including established connections and relationships in the Seattle area, and a proven ability to secure major gifts in a Development role

  • Experience with private and public fundraising, including fundraising events, annual appeals, prospect research, grants (writing and reporting) revenue tracking and goal setting

  • Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and volunteers and build long-term relationships

  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Must be a self-starter and work independently while also being collaborative and a fantastic team player

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and prioritize tasks as needed

  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment and to remain flexible and adaptive

  • Proficient computer skills in CRM/donor databases, Constant Contact, social media platforms, Microsoft Office Suite/Google Docs, and financial systems (Excel, QuickBooks)

  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary for the role

  • High degree of ownership - able to proactively identify opportunities and propose solutions, willing to roll up sleeves and pitch in on a variety of tasks

  • Ideally some experience in managing a small team

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability to travel to off-site work locations for donor meetings or events.
