Job description

  • Complies with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards, including all Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Office of Pharmacy Affairs regulations related to the 340B Program.
  • Monitors 340B drug utilization and purchasing at contract pharmacies.
  • Supports implementation, testing, maintenance, and auditing of new contract pharmacy sites.
  • Serves as a technical resource to contract pharmacies and hospital pharmacy departments.
  • Performs audits on a scheduled basis including presenting and resolving issues as they arise during the monitoring and reconciliation process.
  • Monitors and audits Medicaid prescriptions to ensure compliance to prevent duplicate discounts.
  • Uses the electronic health record to research patient records within the specified audit period, documenting and identifying the eligibility of the provider, location, and patient's status.
  • Analyzes data and builds reports to identify cost savings and system improvements to yield higher compliance.
  • Assists with staff education and training for the 340B Program.
  • Develops and fosters working relationships with internal and external working counterparts to facilitate productive exchanges of information to improve program efficiency and promote program compliance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.

The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. There is potential to encounter hazardous medications and hazardous waste.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.

Requirements

Required - Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field

Preferred - Master's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field

Work Experience

Required - 2 years' experience in Healthcare, Compliance, Business, Accounting, Finance or related field

Preferred - Experience working with the 340B Drug Discount Program

Certifications

Preferred - Completion of Apexus Advanced 340B Certificate Program

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy processes and medications utilized.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills and strong orientation to attention-to-detail.
  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.
  • Reliable transportation to travel between facilities, including ability to drive vehicle on Interstate Highway System.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical contract mechanism for hospitals, GPOs, Retail Pharmacies, and Wholesalers.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy software to support 340B Pharmacy Programs.
  • Skills in Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Knowledge of regulations and guidelines of the 340B Program.
