Job description

The SaaS Continuity Engineering team is responsible for the design and build of the systems and services that enables Oracle to deliver industry-leading availability and performance objectives for Oracle's SaaS services. The team architects and develops high-availability and service continuity solutions across the entire stack - infrastructure, database, platform, and application services - and all the dependent components. The engineering innovations enable SaaS services to be available to customers without any disruptions even during large-scale incidents. We are building the next-gen service continuity solutions in a fast-pace and innovative environment and looking or architects who can design and develop services that operate at scale. As a Senior Principal Engineer (Architect) you will be responsible for ensuring that our SaaS services are designed and built with the highest level of availability and resiliency in mind. You will collaborate with other engineering teams responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing SaaS Services and underlying platform in a distributed computing environment. The ideal candidate will be technically strong and must understand large-scale distributed systems. This role will drive the technical architecture of our service continuity solutions, contribute to the product strategy, and contribute to the development of next generation availability and resiliency features for Oracle's SaaS cloud environment.

Requirements

  • MS/BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields

  • 10+ years experience in system/application architecture/design along with database, infrastructure and networking experience

  • 6+ years software development experience in a distributed cloud engineering environment

  • Strong experience and detailed technical knowledge in SaaS or PaaS engineering

  • Experience in building large scale applications and services

  • Strong development experience in Java, C++, or similar OO languages

  • Experience with containers (Dockers, Kubernetes) and other cloud native components

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages for developing automations

  • Experience in developing resilient and fault tolerant systems

  • Experience working with multiple engineering teams across organizations

  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences

  • Comfortably in a collaborative, agile development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience developing services on a public cloud platform (Examples: AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle)

  • Understanding of distributed computing and cloud-based platforms

  • Understanding of cross-functional platform feature areas in cloud platforms

  • Experience and understanding of cloud infrastructure services, regions, and multi-AD designs

  • Good customer & executive communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment

US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
