Job description
As a Principal Software Test Engineer within the CRDN Organization, you are accountable for working with your scrum team(s), product owner(s), and leaders to deliver capabilities that meet overall business objectives using Agile frameworks. The team is responsible for developing and supporting firmware, embedded, GUI and application software for stand-alone medical devices. This role is expected to technically lead and guide test engineers distributed across scrum teams through the development of new product capabilities, features, and solutions that support business strategies and initiatives. This role will would ensure high quality medical software is delivered to customers that complies to all regulatory approvals.
In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Principal Software Test Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

Lead a team of software test engineers that encompasses manual and automated testing and support of firmware, embedded software, GUI, cloud and mobile for medical devices and applications.

Define, plan, organize and coordinate testing activities with teams across multiple sites for medical devices following IEC 62304/82304.

Participate in Risk Assessment and requirements review.

Building strong partnerships and collaborations with multiple stakeholders including hardware/system partners, quality, and system V&V.

Accountable for the quality, robustness, predictability, and completeness of the team's output.

Prepare team members for certification and regulatory audits. May represent the team's work in audits.
Requirements

Previous experience as Software Test Lead
-
Experience with agile software development teams
-
Experience in providing guidance, coaching, and training to the team in best testing practices.

Hands-on experience in software testing, automation, regression testing and maintenance for software products.

Experience in creating software test strategy, test plans, and writing test reports.

Ability to distill software requirements from system requirements.
Qualifications -

- Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, math or technical discipline and minimum of 7 years of work experience in engineering and/or quality OR advanced degree in engineering, science or technical field with 5 years of work experience in engineering and/or quality.

Familiarity with Agile testing quadrants

Familiarity with test automation frameworks - such as Squish

Experience with Python.

Experience with an embedded Linux Environment

Understanding and appreciation of SDLC process and tools (e.g. JIRA, Bitbucket, Gitlab, Jenkins.)

Experience in scoping and cost estimates for projects.

Engagement with and overseeing 3rd party software design partners as needed.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$122,400.00 - $183,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
