The RoleThe Principal Power Systems Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for the design, implementation, delivery, and support of advanced power system applications for utility customers with emphasis on switching management. This role provides technical leadership across complex projects, mentors engineers, and serves as a trusted advisor and key technical authority to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions aligned with customer and regulatory requirements.

Your Impact

  • Lead design, integration, testing, and commissioning of power system applications
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members
  • Define system configurations, workflows, and project requirements, including business process alignment and operational design
  • Act as primary technical interface with customers (workshops, reviews, testing, training)
  • Drive end-to-end technical delivery for complex projects
  • Collaborate with Product and Development to resolve issues and influence enhancements
  • Support live systems, including troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Contribute to documentation and engineering best practices
  • Lead business process reviews and solution design sessions with customers to define As-Is and To-Be operational workflows
  • Influence product direction and solution strategy by providing field-driven insights to Product and Development teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or related field
  • Strong experience delivering utility applications (e.g., EMS, ADMS, DERMS)
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical solutioning, mentor engineers, and influence cross-functional teams
  • Customer-facing experience across project lifecycle
  • Strong analytical and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Switch Order Management (SOM Planner) or similar workflows
  • Experience with system integrations across EMS and ADMS environments
  • Familiarity with utility regulatory frameworks (e.g., NERC standards)
  • Exposure to testing, process automation and continuous deployment practices
