Job description
WisEngineering is seeking a highly technical Data Analyst / Data Architect to support an upcoming opportunity for Department of Defense programs at Picatinny Arsenal. This is not a traditional business analyst role; it requires a hands-on technical professional who can maintain localized AI infrastructure, engineer data pipelines, and build robust business intelligence dashboards. You will bridge the gap between system administration, data engineering, and applied AI. Your primary focus will be supporting locally hosted Large Language Models (LLMs), identifying and scraping web data to enrich these models, performing system administration duties for the AI environment, and building tracking metrics and reports for leadership., AI Administration & LLM Support
Local Infrastructure Management: Serve as the technical point of contact for locally hosted LLM environments utilizing Ollama and LM Studio, specifically supporting the Gemma model family. Perform troubleshooting and optimization for the local AI/LLM setup.
Data Identification & Web Scraping: Actively identify external and internal data gaps needed to train or ground the LLM. Write and maintain Python web-scraping scripts to safely harvest relevant web data.
Data Modeling and Analytics: Create and maintain data models to support analytics and reporting needs, ensuring scalability and performance optimization.
Data Documentation: Ability to write clear and comprehensive documentation for datasets, workflows, scripts, and dashboards to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
Security Compliance: Ensure all data ingestion, scraping, and LLM querying adhere to strict DoD guidelines.
Advanced Reporting & Prompt Engineering
Conceptualize and design high-impact use cases that turn raw, unstructured data (web pages, PDFs, free-text fields, etc) into actionable insights
Prompt Engineering: Develop, test, and refine complex prompts to extract deterministic summaries, classifications, and research insights from the LLM.
AI-Driven Research: Utilize the localized LLM environment to conduct deep-dive research and generate automated intelligence reports for program stakeholders.
Generate PDF/Word/HTML deliverables as needed using open source libraries.
Business Intelligence & Pipeline Engineering
Metrics & Dashboards: Design, build, and maintain high-impact performance metrics and interactive dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
Data Tracking: Configure and maintain Microsoft Lists and Excel/SharePoint environments to track program data, ensuring seamless integration with Power BI.
Data Pipeline Automation: Write and maintain Python 3 scripts to pull, clean, and transform data from varied sources (Excel, CSV, JSON, Markdown, APIs, and scraped web content) into structured data models.
Requirements
Core Languages & Tools: Proficient in Python (for data manipulation and web scraping) and Power BI (for advanced DAX data modeling and visualization).
AI/LLM Frameworks: Hands-on experience configuring and managing Ollama, LM Studio, and open-source models like Gemma.
Microsoft Ecosystem: Strong familiarity with Microsoft Lists, SharePoint, and Power Platform integration.
Data Wrangling: Proven ability to scrape web data and clean unstructured text/data formats (PDFs, APIs, free-text).
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, paired with 3+ years of relevant technical experience (or equivalent combined education and experience).
