Job description

Harman Becker Automotive Systems, Inc. seeks Technical Program Manager in Novi, MI., Duties: Manage a global cross-functional audio system program team, requiring applications, validation, and development engineering. Define tasks to be performed by the cross functional team in developing systems. Use a task list to create a work breakdown structure. Use work breakdown structure to establish program schedule. Follow corporate product development (or applications) process. Represent Harman as the primary program interface with the customer. Follow corporate and customer product development process. Ensure prompt decision-making by promoting consensus decisions, intervening or escalating when consensus decision-making fails. Understand all of the technical detail of the products used in all systems, both electrical and mechanical. Approve technical solutions for meeting requirements for all development products. Establish and manage program budget. Work with Sales, Procurement, and Design Engineering to set and meet the system cost target. Set program targets for deliveries per feature roll-out plan. Lead team to meet targets. Interact with all internal functions: design engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, marketing, sales, etc. Negotiate resource allocations from functional managers. When a resource conflict occurs, negotiate a solution with functional managers and other program managers. Coordinate Harman factory sample builds for customer or internal validation activities. Review selected suppliers and quotes, and participate in supplier reviews/selection as appropriate. Coordinate and oversee the ordering of prototype and production tooling. Drive risk assessment and mitigation activities. Recommend continuous improvements development process. Work with internal and customer quality teams to follow all quality processes including PPAP.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, System Engineering, or related field (or its foreign equivalent) and 10 years of experience in the job offered or related occupations. Must have 5 years of experience in project leadership, program and account management; and MS Office, MS Project, MS Teams, and SAP. Also requires 2 years of experience with complex development cycles that span multiple systems and software release versions; and HW/SW delivery methods and automotive development processes.
