Job description
This position involves engineering and operating network solutions that support mainframe TCP/IP and SNA/APPN-based system integrations. The role focuses on optimizing high-availability connectivity for business-critical transactions and batch-processing systems. The successful candidate will lead the modernization of mainframe network architectures, advance automation, and resolve complex network issues to improve reliability and meet compliance standards., * Engineer and operate network solutions for mainframe TCP/IP and SNA/APPN integrations.
- Optimize high-availability connectivity for high-velocity transactions and batch processing.
- Lead the modernization of mainframe network architectures, including improvements in observability and telemetry.
- Advance automation and AI-assisted operations to reduce manual effort and improve network reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers, and mainframe network stacks.
- Continuously improve network solutions to meet performance, capacity, resiliency, and cybersecurity compliance standards.
Requirements
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale networks with high availability and reliability requirements.
- Foundational expertise in TCP/IP networking, including OSPF, EIGRP, and Layer 2 technologies such as VLANs and EtherChannel/Portchannel.
- Understanding of packet trace analysis and multi-layer troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience supporting SNA/APPN networking.
- Working knowledge of switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, certificates, TLS/SSL, and REST APIs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using IBM Netview and IBM Omegamon automation and performance tools.
- Assembler and REXX programming skills.
Work Schedule
This position requires a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days per week onsite, starting from day one.
Benefits & conditions
A pay range of $65.00 to $70.24 per hour is offered for this position.
