Job description
As the traceability systems consulting expert, provide technical direction for traceability system planning and implementation. Develop and distribute code libraries to interface production equipment to the company's traceability systems, (eCon or Line Control). Create and maintain reusable code libraries and distribute to the company's North America region Siemens PLC libraries, MCT, LabVIEW, TestStand libraries and C# users. Prepare code ahead of time to prevent downtime from new supplier and to adhere customer requirements and project milestones. Provide Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC support for general automation topics as well as National Instruments Test Stand and LabVIEW, technical support for Webasto automated end of line test equipment to plant controls engineers in the North America region. Address challenging problems by performing root cause analysis and distributing solutions to applicable Webasto machines. Train new controls engineers in general advance PLC topics and Webasto traceability system. Provide automation expertise by offering accurate and timely input during concept development and early design activities to ensure adherence to customer and Webasto quality and safety standards. Develop applicable procedures and checklists to perform more efficient design reviews. Analyze and support buy decisions for components used in automated manufacturing equipment. Support new lines' pre-acceptance at suppliers' site, provide feedback to ensure machine meets minimum requirements. Perform safety, functional and composition checks to ensure good practices are followed and specifications are met. Support launch of new product lines, perform installation of new hardware and modify/develop software to meet machine availability and quality using a variety of tools.
Requirements
U.S. Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a closely-related field and three (3) years of experience as a Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, ME Engineer Line Systems or related position involving automotive manufacturing experience required. Three (3) years of experience must include experience with all of the following: ABB robot experience with material handling; robot I/O setup; programming and debugging of PLC, HMI, and other controls; troubleshooting controls issues on the manufacturing lines; and experience with Siemens V5.5, Siemens TIA Portal, Allen Bradley Studio 5000, and Siemens Start Drive. 10% domestic travel to Webasto plants in Michigan and Kentucky. Hybrid schedule; 3 days in office/2 remote.
