Chart Industries is looking for a SR Design Engineer for our office in Buffalo, NY - Aftermaket Division . This individual will perform / lead / manage design engineering projects to support product groups, supply chain, new product development, and product enhancements in regard to centrifugal and axial fans for the Power, Industrial and Nuclear industries. Direct involvement with all line functions in regard to a manufacturing facility will be required. We are open to a hybrid or remote schedule for anyone located in Northeast region.
What Will You Do?

Perform engineering analyses, and create conceptual layouts, via hand calculations, Excel spreadsheets, or various internal software programs with regard to strength of materials, statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, vibrations, fluids, performance, and sound for Centrifugal and Axial fans.

Ensure products which are designed and engineered meet agreed upon specifications.

Performs material selection (cost effective alternatives when feasible), industry specification review, and minor failure analysis.

Conduct design reviews of drawings and bills of materials for new designs, or design changes, which deviate from a previously approved design, to ensure appropriate design controls have been applied.

Provide disposition of Quality documentation (NCRs, Deviations, Corrective Actions, etc), and general shop technical support.

Compose technical reports and test procedures. Review and approve test reports generated by field test operations. May also review technical reports generated by Quality and 3rd parties.

Provide technical assistance to Field Operations and Howden Construction Services, Manufacturing (assembly and fabrication), test facility, Quality and Supply Chain to ensure components meet all design requirements.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering or the equivalent.

Registered Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one.

Experience with FEA.

5+ years of design experience within an air and gas handling, rotating equipment, or heavy industrial firm.

Familiarity with various industry standards: i.e. API, MIL, SAE, ANSI, ASME, and ASTM.

Ability to interpret and understand engineering specifications, drawings and bills of materials.

Computer literate, with either the knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly learn, engineering selection programs, business systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Autodesk Inventor (3D), and AutoCAD (2D).

Knowledgeable of fabricating, weldments and assembly of heavy industrial products.

Logical problem solving skills, outstanding organizational skills, and dedication to quality and integrity. Proven ability to quickly assess complex issues and identify root causes and key success factors.

Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. This includes the ability to access, plan and communicate workloads. Must be able to forecast overloads in conjunction with management so efforts are complementary.
