Job description
The Data Specialist will provide technical and project leadership by integrating the work of building staff in their use of technology. In addition they will supports the SIS which includes online registration, report cards and transcripts, course management, class schedule development, enrollment, attendance, and required reports to state and federal agencies., * Use varied computer application software (including, but not limited to Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Manages application software, application infrastructure and third-party application environments related to Student Information Systems. This includes, but is not limited to installation, upgrades and patches, performance monitoring and troubleshooting, and regularly scheduled data updates and integration.
- Training of staff who use and support SIS at the building-level. Responsibilities include hiring input, review of SIS work, mentoring and training, and identifying topics and opportunities for staff development.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for staff in support of online materials and other learning-related systems.
- Assists with annual large-scale computer and software deployments.
- Analyzes SIS data, resolves discrepancies and verifies accuracy of date for the purpose of providing accurate information to state and federal agencies, District staff and partner agencies.
- Acts as liaison between end-user and vendor customer service.
Requirements
- Knowledge of computer technology principles and capabilities, with particular emphasis on the
- technical support for the Student Information System.
- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to write documentation for accurate generation of reports.
- Ability to work effectively under direction and take initiative when appropriate.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with district policies and legal requirements.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to support a positive school culture.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to learn new systems and technologies in an ever changing environment.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and prioritize work, complete tasks and meet deadlines., * Associate's Degree with coursework in technology or comparable education. In lieu of an Associate's Degree, a high school diploma and a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- Experience managing Student Information Systems and related databases. PowerSchool experience preferred.
- Experience with state and federal reporting. Oregon Department of Education reporting experience preferred.
