Job description
Admissions Application Specialist is a professional responsible for the administrative intake and initial verification of applications for admission to UMR. This position serves as the primary bridge between a prospective student's submission and the formal review by an admissions counselor.
Location and Work environment: Position is located within the Enrollment Management/Admissions office areas on the Rochester campus. The position is in-person on the Rochester campus, with limited flexibility.
Work Schedule: Position is Monday through Friday, normal campus office hours. Some weekends and nights will be required for recruitment events or special projects. Limited travel may be required.
Expected Contributions: This position contributes to the University by supporting the recruitment of new students and retention/persistence of students. Primary Responsibilities 40% Data Management: Entering and updating applicant information in student information systems (SIS) like Slate or Banner. 20% Document Verification: Reviewing transcripts, test scores, and letters of recommendation to ensure they are official and complete. 20% Eligibility Screening: Calculating GPAs and verifying that applicants meet specific institutional criteria (e.g., residency status or prerequisite courses). 10% Applicant Communication: Contacting students via email or phone to request missing documents or clarify details in their application. 10% Record Maintenance: Utilizing and maintaining accurate data, including student contacts, in software systems to allow for the construction of the weekly report to the Enrollment Management Team.
This position works in-person in Rochester, MN. This role is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position is contingent upon confirmed student enrollment for the upcoming term.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Writing skills?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Bachelor's degree and two years' experience after degree completion or master's degree, * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (for data reconciliation) and experience with Student Information Systems or CRMs (e.g., Slate).
- Prior work at a college or university.
- Fluent in English and one other language eg. Spanish, Hmong, Somali.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and take initiative, working independently without supervision.
- Ability to work in an innovative, collaborative, and competitive environment.
- Work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
- Excellent writing skills, including professionalism in composing emails.
