Job description
We are currently seeking a talented Full Stack Developer (JavaScript/Python/Django) to join our team in BASF's Agricultural Solutions department, Digital Strategy & Delivery. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining innovative digital solutions for lab and study management. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch and maintenance of high-quality digital products. We are looking for individuals with a diverse skill set and extensive knowledge of both front-end and back-end components. Our teams deliver digital solutions to a variety of user groups in the domains of regulatory affairs, stewardship, and public affairs related to agronomic products. The applications you will create, extend, and maintain contribute to our research and registration pipeline and support colleagues with scientific and governance backgrounds. You will develop backend services and user-facing features, work with data and databases, apply security best practices, and collaborate closely with DevOps to ensure reliable CI/CD, cloud deployments, and production readiness. RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will work closely with product stakeholders to understand their requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and estimate the time and resources needed for these work packages.
- You will be responsible for developing and maintaining digital products, by writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code, as well as participate in code reviews to maintain the code quality and adherence to best practices to be able to adapt the solutions to changing conditions.
- You will utilize Azure DevOps as the central development tool for managing code repositories and implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Through continuous monitoring and testing you will ensure the quality, scalability, and performance of developed products, while you implement security measures and access controls to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
- You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues, continuously optimizing solutions for faster response times and stability, providing support in resolving any arising issues, and documenting development progress.
- You will be responsible for identifying, extracting, modelling, integrating, and presenting data from various internal and external sources.
- You actively participate and contribute to development communities at BASF, proactively sharing experiences and knowledge to foster a culture of innovation and transparency.
- In this role, your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain the front-end and back-end components of digital products.
- You will work in agile digital teams (planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives) and communicate effectively with product, design, QA, and other stakeholders
- Since your stakeholders will come from different domains and backgrounds, clear and comprehensible communication tailored to each recipient will be an important aspect of your role.
- The digital solutions are design to support scientific communities, so your ability to understand basic biochemical concepts and Python for Chemistry (e.g., RDKit, SBML) will play a strong role here.
Requirements
- University degree in computer science.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Javascript/Python/Django.
- Solid knowledge of front-end development, with strong skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and experience with modern frameworks-particularly HTMX-and ideally one or more of the following: Vue.js, React, Svelte, or Angular.
- Leadership experience with agile organizations.
- Quality assurance and testing skills.
- IT infrastructure/system landscape.
- Data & function modelling.
- Data analysis techniques and data transfer formats.
- Analytical thinking and problem solving.
- Azure/AWS experience.
- Advanced proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is required.
