- Plan and carry out scheduled maintenance, including out-of-hours patching, and support product deployments with schema change implementation across all environments.
- Monitor system health, diagnose slow-running queries, and work with development teams to resolve performance issues and reduce technical debt.
- Support and guide developers on good database design, and assist with approval and optimisation of DB change release processes.
- Build and maintain repeatable, automated infrastructure and proactive monitoring for both production and non-production environments.
- Manage data security, backup, archiving, replication, and disaster recovery - including regular DR testing.
- Develop and support Dataflow and Datastream jobs to power data imports into our BigQuery data warehouse.
Requirements
- Solid hands-on experience in database administration with a focus on performance tuning, optimisation, and capacity planning.
- Strong working knowledge of MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including TSQL, execution plans, and index optimisation.

- Background in infrastructure or IT operations.
- Experience with GCP data products: Dataflow, Datastream, and BigQuery.
- Familiarity with BI reporting tools and data warehousing / ETL design.
