IT Field Engineer - Manchester

We're looking for an experienced IT Field Engineer to join a busy MSP team, delivering hands-on technical support across a diverse UK client base. You'll split your time between on-site visits, project delivery, and remote service desk support - making every day varied and fast-paced.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide on-site IT support across the UK - installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Contribute to project work including migrations, deployments, infrastructure upgrades, and office moves
• Support the service desk with escalated tickets and remote troubleshooting when not in the field
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and Exchange environments
• Support networking technologies including TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, and wireless
• Manage firewall solutions (FortiGate, Cisco, SonicWall, WatchGuard)
• Maintain backup solutions such as Azure Backup and Veeam
• Support virtualised environments: Hyper-V, VMware, Azure Virtual Desktop, and RDS
• Keep documentation accurate and tickets up to date

• 3+ years' experience in a similar IT support role
• MSP or customer-facing environment experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies: 365, Azure, Windows, AD, Server OS
• Solid networking fundamentals and firewall experience
• Familiarity with virtualisation (VMware / Hyper-V) and backup solutions (Veeam)
• Cyber security awareness: firewalls, web filters, advanced protection
• Clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-first mindset

Nice to Have

• Microsoft Certified (Azure or M365)
• VMware VCP, Citrix, or Veeam certification
• Experience supporting Apple Mac environments
