Job description

  • Work to understand the target market/customers, own a product feature, and lead project execution, including owning the development plan and representing the product's feature internally, and with customers. Manage an internal network across the product domain. Write user stories that describe business needs, educational value, and technical acceptance criteria, and work with the Scrum team to break down epics and large stories into deliverable increments. Meaningfully contribute to the development and execution of the product strategy. Negotiate with product managers with regard to feature-level Acceptance Criteria, and Acceptance Tests. Collaborate to unite the commercial needs with development priorities to align with target markets. Collaborate with the Product Manager, market/customers, and/or commercial teams to define development priorities based on market research. Coordinate with the Product Manager to determine product feature roadmap and critical release dates for delivering business value based on market analysis. Guide release planning to ensure value is being delivered. Manage existing product(s) and release new product or product features to the market, from collaborative conceptualization to execution to post-release management Tie analytics data to business metrics to drive business outcome. Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related field required.

  • 2 years of experience in job offered or related occupations required.

  • Also required is: 2 years of experience: capturing customer goals and needs using different frameworks and techniques, and prioritizing those needs for the organization; impacting customer satisfaction; reviewing and using data from predefined dashboards to make decisions and recommendations; comparing and evaluating possibilities, and making recommendations for action that consider business implications; applying knowledge of the relevant technology architecture in engaging developers to understand technology constraints; utilizing Excel, Tableau, Python, and SQL to assist in day-to-day tasks; with Go Market processes used to launch products; investigating customer questions and complaints; interacting independently with sales and customers through in person communication, including at various customer events; driving customer experience to make improvements; leveraging tools to coordinate development and quality activities based on the current development methodology; contributing to process improvement activities; using development methodologies as identified by management including agile and lean methodologies, as well as assessing their impact on the SDLCs; and aligning actions with defined product strategy.

  • Employee reports to Elsevier, Inc. office in Philadelphia, PA, but may telecommute from any location within the U.S.

  • Experience can be concurrent.
