Job description
A Cloud Security Engineer is sought to provide analysis of cloud cybersecurity architecture, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and commercial best practices. This role involves safeguarding cloud-based systems and infrastructure against cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and unauthorized access. The engineer will be an architect of secure cloud environments, ensuring data is protected through robust security measures and adherence to industry standards., * Provide security expertise on systems, networks, encryption, authentication, and governance.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to ensure cloud solutions are securely integrated with existing software and infrastructure.
- Engage with senior technical leaders in the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions.
- Drive security standards and tool strategies for public and private cloud solutions.
- Conduct technology assessments to establish and validate an enterprise security baseline.
- Set technical standards for cloud infrastructure, containers, security baselines, policies, and procedures.
- Analyze security configurations and provide vulnerability reports.
- Serve as the primary interface to governance, compliance, and risk management teams.
- Facilitate security automation by working with cloud service provider APIs, SDKs, and custom source code.
- Write, maintain, and expand automation scripts and monitoring tools.
Requirements
Education: A degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering, or a related field is required. A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is necessary.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience with the development, deployment, and automation of security solutions in large enterprise environments, connecting to cloud solutions such as AWS. At least 3 years of relevant experience and proven work experience as a Cloud Security Engineer or similar role are required.
Technical Skills:
- Database programming and administration.
- Understanding of core concepts for Public/Private/Hybrid clouds (networking, security groups, IAM).
- Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and workload transition challenges.
- Experience with cloud security solutions and tools.
- Understanding of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and security event analysis.
- Familiarity with web-related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and network/web-related protocols.
- Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies, and methods.
Preferred Qualifications
- A professional security management certification, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

The pay rate for this position is between $84.00 and $89.74 per hour. Benefits are available to eligible employees.
