We are seeking an Information Systems Architect to assist in supporting first-of-a-kind, large-scale solutions for national security. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Some travel is required. Salary Range
$87,400 - $168,800, We design, test, analyze, and integrate first-of-a-kind large-scale mission unique system solutions for national security customers. We work the full lifecycle to architect, procure, deploy, integrate, and maintain advanced high-performance computer systems to process, display, store, and disseminate high throughput sensor data. We also develop cutting edge infrastructure and tools used to enable our R&D software development teams to create complex mission unique capabilities that only exist at Sandia National Laboratories. Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship. SCI access may also require a polygraph examination. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain these levels of access may be impacted.

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience.
- Experience managing Linux servers
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as VLANs, routing, bonding, and firewalls
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph examination.
Qualifications We Desire
- Experience Designing, developing, and analyzing overall architecture of internal systems, including hardware and software.
- Experience in hardware and software architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security needs.
- Experience Researching and making recommendations of technology to improve current systems.
- Experience developing or modifying information systems, documenting requirements, and revising existing systems as necessary.
- Experience in integration and acceptance testing.
- Experience in problem identification, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting skillsets.
- Basic understanding of Linux or Windows administration concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with department team members and management and to identify and resolve network-centric issues.
- Security+ or higher certification
- Ability to function in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to learn new technologies, concepts, and processes
- Ability to prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects within appropriate scope and timeframe.
- Ability to work beyond normal business hours when needed
- Active DOE Q clearance
