Job description
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of Java application issues, including analyzing various logs checking application health/status, and verifying configurations.
- Monitor system resources (CPU, memory, disk, network I/O) and identify potential performance bottlenecks or anomalies.
- Contribute to improving and updating runbooks and operational documentation based on hands-on experience and feedback.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and incident logs
- Work closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to support integrated system requirements
- Participate actively in team meetings, operational reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions relevant to the contract engagement., Designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs moderately complex software applications for enhancements and new products. Performs coding, configuration, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process., * Develops and documents technical design specifications to meet business needs identified through application requirements, user stories, support tickets, and test defects.
- Builds software enhancements through configuration and/or development to meet desired functionalities.
- Performs unit testing on application enhancements prior to moving coding and configuration through the quality assurance process.
- Develops and defines test plans and scripts for functional, performance, regression, and user acceptance testing.
- Analyzes applications for compliance with security protocols.
- Participates in incident management activities, including troubleshooting and performing after action reviews and tasks.
- Contributes to peer reviews in cross-functional application development activities.
Nature and Scope
- Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
- Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.
- May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.
Work Environment
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in technical support, system administration, or similar operational role.
- Hands-on experience with application deployments and building CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
- Working knowledge of Git version control system.
- Understanding of CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) concepts and pipelines with Jenkins.

- Basic understanding of Java application server environments (e.g., JVM fundamentals, application deployment processes, log interpretation).
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and core system/application monitoring concepts.
- Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Knowledge of fundamental networking protocols and concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, basic load balancing knowledge).
- Ability to read, comprehend, and accurately execute technical documentation and runbooks.
- Monitor system alerts and notifications from our monitoring tools (e.g., CheckMk, New Relic, Opsgenie, PagerDuty, Splunk).
- Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) and runbooks for routine maintenance, common issue resolution, and system health checks., * Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
