Job description
A large healthcare client is hiring a Network Technician. This person will spend 60% of their day working on various projects and 40% completing day to day network maintenance. Common projects consist of building network closets in new buildings, remodeling old set ups, and replacing stacks/old equipment as needed. For day to day network maintenance they will be monitoring the equipment (desktops, printers, phones) and troubleshooting issues such as diagnosing network connectivity issues, checking IP addresses, configuring switches, mounting network equipment, etc.
Hours: Flex, typically 8-4:30 or 9-5:30 but MUST be flexible, once person they will have long working hours and overtime. For projects they sometimes have to work at night, wait for the practice to close down and work from 6-midnight if needed. Always the possibility of working all night as issues arise. Might get woken up in the middle of the night if something is down.
Requirements
2+ years of networking experience in an enterprise environment
- Ability to make network activations and patch panels
- Experience configuring a network switch
- Previously worked in a network closest, maintaining and swapping out equipment
- Experience monitoring network equipment
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- CCNA Certification
- Cisco Certification
- Healthcare experience
- Bachelors Degree
- Monitoring with WhatsUp Gold and Clear Pass
- Nortel Avaya or Extreme
