Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial automation, control systems, or project engineering with hands-on software configuration and field commissioning
  • Strong proficiency in control system tools such as UCOS and ControlSmart (or similar)
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols: Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA/DA, Profinet, Modbus, CANbus
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently - manager is based in Brazil; team is Houston-based with minimal day-to-day oversight
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States - no visa sponsorship available

About the company

This role is part of the controls and automation engineering team at a leading global energy technology company based in Houston near Atascasita. On a day-to-day basis, the candidate will configure, version, and validate industrial automation software using both proprietary and standard control system tools. They will support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and field commissioning activities, create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for software deployment and validation, and troubleshoot software and configuration issues across control systems. The role requires close collaboration with global engineering squads to ensure alignment on software standards and configuration requirements. Additionally, the candidate will document software configurations, validation results, and commissioning activities, and may travel up to 25% of the time, including international assignments to locations such as Singapore and Guyana.
