Job description

  • Design and develop high-performance, scalable, multi-threaded software systems.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance PostgreSQL database solutions for enterprise-scale applications.
  • Build and optimize PostgreSQL stored procedures, functions, indexing strategies, and query execution plans.
  • Lead database migration initiatives from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL, ensuring reliability, scalability, and minimal disruption.
  • Translate business and reporting requirements into efficient, scalable, and maintainable database architectures.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize complex SQL queries to improve database performance and system scalability.
  • Design robust, future-ready schemas and historical data models that support evolving product and business needs.
  • Take ownership of database development initiatives across new product development and enhancements to existing platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions and technical excellence.
  • Contribute to database architecture strategy, best practices, and long-term platform scalability.

Requirements

Adaptiva is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior PostgreSQL Developer to join our growing engineering organization. Based in our Kirkland, Washington office, this full-time role offers the opportunity to lead the design, development, and optimization of mission-critical PostgreSQL solutions powering innovative enterprise products used by global organizations.

As a senior member of the development team, you will play a key role in architecting scalable database systems, driving database modernization initiatives, and optimizing performance for large-scale applications. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex data challenges, influencing technical direction, and building robust systems that support high-growth products., * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and supporting PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
  • Strong expertise in complex SQL development, schema design, indexing, query optimization, and historical data modeling.
  • Proven experience diagnosing and improving database performance in large-scale or high-growth systems.
  • Experience leading or supporting database migration projects, particularly from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with at least one modern programming language such as Java or C#.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a highly technical engineering team.
