Job description
Reporting to the Head of IT, the IT Support Assistant provides first-line support to users, diagnosing and resolving technical, hardware, software and application issues by phone, in person, or remotely.
The role also supports user onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, device preparation, access changes, and removal of leaver access. The IT Support Assistant works closely with the Managed Service Provider to escalate issues, follow up tickets, and support day-to-day IT operations.
The role requires awareness of Information Security policies, Cyber Essentials requirements, and the importance of protecting company systems and data., * Provide first-line IT support and ensure systems, applications and user devices run effectively.
- Respond to support requests within agreed timescales and manage multiple open tickets at the same time.
- Set up new users, accounts, devices and profiles as part of the onboarding process.
- Support offboarding activities, including removal of access, account changes, and device recovery.
- Assist with password issues, access requests and general user queries.
- Support the roll-out of new applications, systems and IT improvements.
- Work closely with the Managed Service Provider, application suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues and escalate where required.
- Maintain and update IT asset lists, systems and portals.
- Promote cybersecurity best practices and support compliance with IT security policies and Cyber Essentials requirements.
- Test and evaluate new technology where required.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years' experience in an IT support or similar role.
- Good knowledge of operating systems, hardware, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system monitoring tools.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft cloud technologies, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Entra ID.
- Understanding of ITIL principles and cybersecurity best practices.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Ability to handle confidential company information with professionalism and discretion.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous
