Job description
My client is seeking a senior TypeScript/React engineer to assess an early-stage codebase and help shape a clear path toward production. This is initially an assessment and scoping engagement, with strong potential to continue into hands-on development depending on outcomes.
This is not a feature-factory role. The first deliverable is senior judgement: reviewing existing code for quality, structure and maintainability, identifying what's needed to reach a production-ready state, and helping define scope and approach. You'll need the experience and authority to form a clear view and defend it to stakeholders.
Essential experience:
- Extensive web application development, with strong, current TypeScript and React
- Hands-on delivery with one or more messaging/Middleware platforms Ideally Solace but others consdiered (eg Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQTT or similar)
- A proven track record of reviewing and assessing existing codebases - quality, structure, maintainability - and translating findings into actionable recommendations
- Demonstrable experience taking early-stage or prototype code toward production readiness
- Solid grounding in server-side deployment models and containerised environments (Docker or equivalent)
- Comfortable working with open-source projects
Engagement details: Contract/day-rate Hybrid (UK) Initial assessment phase with strong potential to extend into ongoing development.
