Sybase DBA

Sybase DBA - Contract (Inside IR35) - 6 Months

My client a leading global bank are looking for an experienced Sybase DBA to join their team. This role supports mission-critical environments and requires strong expertise in Sybase ASE and Replication Server within fast-paced enterprise settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, configure, and maintain Sybase ASE and Replication Server environments
• Perform upgrades, patching, migrations, and platform transitions (RHEL7/8 ? RHEL9)
• Monitor and optimise database performance, resolving bottlenecks, deadlocks, and query issues
• Manage backup, recovery, and high-availability/DR solutions
• Provide L2/L3 production support and assist development teams
• Automate routine tasks and maintain robust documentation and compliance standards
• Participate in on-call support rotation

Required Skills:

• 5+ years' Sybase DBA experience (ASE & Replication Server)
• Strong SQL tuning and performance optimisation expertise
• Experience supporting 24/7 production environments
• Solid Unix/Linux and Scripting skills
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Desirable:

• Cloud exposure (Azure or AWS)
• Automation tools (Python, Ansible)
• Experience in large financial services environments
