Job description
The Field Engineer is part of the project management team responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications. This involves a range of tasks, including project planning, resource management, quality control, and communication with stakeholders. Site Engineers work on the project site(s) they are supporting., 1. Planning and Preparation:
- Reviewing project plans and specifications: analyze drawings, specifications and other technical documents to understand the project requirements and identify potential issues.
- Conducting site surveys and assessments: evaluate the site's conditions, identify potential hazards, and ensure the site is suitable for construction.
- Preparing site reports and documentation: maintain accurate records of site activities, progress, and encountered issues.
- On-site Management and Supervision:
- Overseeing construction activities: provide oversight to subcontractors and workers to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications and adherence to safety regulations.
- Project schedules and budgets: aid in monitoring timelines and costs as phases of construction proceed.
- Managing resources: monitor the delivery and use of materials and equipment ensuring efficient resource allocation. Work with materials management team to organize received materials.
- Ensuring quality control: inspect work in progress to ensure it meets the required standards and specifications. Assure that QA/QC checklists and reports are completed, accurate and delivered to appropriate stakeholders. Assure collection of as-builts drawing redlines and construction progress photography.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving: front line resource to address technical difficulties, design changes, or other issues that arise during construction. Liaison between construction and engineering when for issues that must be elevated to offsite resources.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Communicating with project stakeholders: liaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and other team members to keep everyone informed of project progress and address any concerns.
- Collaborating with other professionals: work closely with other engineers, designers, and specialists to ensure the project is executed effectively. Communicate arising field concerns back to technical staff that may not elevate to a problem, or other issue.
- Preparing reports and presentations: communicate project status, issues, and solutions to relevant parties, including management and stakeholders. Complete schedule updates.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforcing safety regulations: aid safety personnel in ensuring that all workers on-site adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines.

Requirements
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and manage time effectively in order to meet deadlines.
- Self-starter and able to work in a team atmosphere.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work within a physically demanding work environment including extended periods of standing and walking, frequent sitting, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stopping and climbing.
- Work will be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Education and/or Work Experience:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 6 months to a year of experience in construction, preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
