Job description
The System Administrator provides onsite and remote client computing services and support to the Dominican University community. Working within a team structure, the Administrator provides a range of technical services, including basic to advanced troubleshooting for local and hosted applications, client computing support cases, image/software support, enterprise desktop support, and mobile device management building a working relationship and communication foundation with the Dominican community. The Administrator also assists with managing security privileges across a suite of University systems and applications. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervisory Scope:
- This role does not supervise employees.
- Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft Intune (MDM/MAM) architecture and device lifecycle management strategies.
- Manage device enrollment (Windows Autopilot, BYOD, Hybrid Join, Entra Join), configuration profiles, compliance policies, and security baselines.
- Configure and maintain endpoint security policies, including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint integration.
- Manage application packaging and deployment (Win32, MSI, macOS PKG) and Windows Update for Business update rings.
- Provide tier 2 and tier 3 endpoint and desktop support, including deployments and complex case resolution.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Teams, OneDrive, Cloud App Security, Azure AD (Entra ID), and Intune.
- Support JAMF management for Apple devices, including integration and systems maintenance.
- Ensure installation, updates, and availability of onsite and SaaS applications.
- Develop technical documentation and training materials for faculty, staff, and students.
- Participate in IT planning, policy development, and governance initiatives.
- Maintain SLA accountability through proactive case management and user outreach.
- Represent the division at departmental, campus, or external meetings as requested by the CIO.
- Participate in occasional after-hours support, upgrades, and emergency response scenarios.
- Engage in university service and community-building initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in IT department experience?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, * Associate's degree.
- Minimum of one (2) years' experience with IT systems and security management.
- Demonstrated understanding of the importance of protecting sensitive and private data;
- Strong commitment to customer support, leadership and communication., * Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in a higher education environment.
- Experience with Azure AD, JAMF, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Teams Calling, and Microsoft Intune/Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
- Microsoft certifications such as Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102), Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300), Security Operations Analyst (SC-200), or equivalent credentials preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
