Job description

Synchron, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support U.S. Navy's Team Submarine staff and program offices at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. As a Senior ISSO for Team Submarine, your primary mission is to own and manage the Information Systems Security Officer component of the Local Registration Authority (LRA) program. You will ensure that all operations maintain strict adherence to Department of War (DoW) standards and comply fully with the United States Department of Defense X.509 Certificate Policy. You will also play a critical role in user access management and incident response across secure networks. We are seeking candidates to provide the US Navy with excellent information technology customer service support., * Access Management & Information Assurance

  • Review and verify the completion of all required certificates and prerequisite training prior to signing off on System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) forms.
  • Manage, authorize, and execute account activations on the SIPR network.
  • Monitor, analyze, and directly action Information Assurance (IA) events and security incidents to maintain a secure operational environment.
  • LRA Program ISSO Ownership & PKI Compliance
  • Serve as the primary ISSO authority for the LRA program, ensuring continuous compliance with PKI audit mandates and DoW security standards.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and enforcement authority for the United States Department of Defense X.509 Certificate Policy.
  • Implement and enforce strict protocols for the Protection of Audit Logs and establish comprehensive Audit Log Backup Procedures.
  • Oversee and validate Off-Site Backups and the Protection of Archives to guarantee data integrity, security, and availability.
  • Manage specialized Computing Resources and enforce all Specific Computer Technical Requirements mandated for LRA systems.
  • Develop and execute remediation procedures for disaster recovery, specifically addressing scenarios where Software and/or Data are Corrupted.

Requirements

  • Seven years (min) of professional Information Technology Security (INFOSEC) support; at least 3 years' experience with Navy networks.
  • Extensive, hands-on knowledge of the DoD X.509 Certificate Policy and its operational application within an LRA program.
  • Proven experience passing and maintaining compliance for PKI audits.
  • Deep understanding of DoW IA standards, secure network operations (SIPR), and enterprise access protocols (SAAR).
  • Strong technical background in audit log protection, secure data archiving, and recovery of corrupted systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent additional work experience)

Education and Experience (Preferred):

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field
  • Ten years (min) of INFOSEC support experience, at least 5 years' experience with Navy networks.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy as a key member of a small team
