Job description

We are seeking a Guidance and Control (GNC) Engineer who will join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting missile system and fire control system design, development, integration, and test., * Design, develop, and deploy embedded algorithms that perform inertial tracking, inertial navigation, sensor fusion, flight control, and/or guidance

  • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
  • Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
  • Opportunities will exist to join small teams of engineers and algorithm developers on a variety of different programs that are in various stages of product development.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree. -Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment -Familiarity in SW development environments like Git using programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, FORTRAN, or Ada. -Solid foundation in linear algebra, dynamics, coordinate frame transformations, and state estimation techniques -Demonstrated ability to perform one or more of the following GNC or Modeling/Simulation assignments based on completed coursework or professional experience: Guidance algorithm development, autopilot development, inertial tracking algorithm development, servo controller development, 6DOF vehicle model and simulation development. Desired Skills: -Experience using a Linux-based operating system -Familiarity with some, or all, of the following: linear algebra, probability and statistics, state dynamic equations, Kalman filter applications, kinematics and rotating coordinate systems -Experience integrating and testing hardware and software in Hardware In-the-Loop (HWIL) -Prior experience supporting flight tests -Ability to occasionally travel for up to two weeks at a time to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico to support flight tests. Experience in air and missile defense, development, and testing is required. -Experience with different simulation and test environments (6-DOF IFS, HWIL, flight test experience, etc. Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years, Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
