Job description
McLarens is seeking a hands-on and results-oriented Director of IT PMO to lead and mature our global IT Project Management Office. This role will help strengthen and modernize project management processes, governance, tools, and delivery practices across a growing portfolio of technology and business initiatives. The ideal candidate brings practical experience building PMO capabilities within mid-sized organizations, with strong knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery models, as well as modern PM tools and reporting platforms. This individual should be comfortable driving process improvement, coaching project managers, improving execution discipline, and partnering closely with business and IT leadership teams. - Lead and evolve the IT PMO function with focus on execution discipline, transparency,accountability, and business alignment
- Implement scalable project management standards, governance processes, templates, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks
- Strengthen project controls including scope, timeline, budget, RAID management, resource planning, and change management
- Facilitate governance reviews, steering committees, and executive portfolio reporting
Portfolio & Project Delivery
- Oversee a portfolio of IT and business transformation initiatives across global teams
- Partner with IT and business leaders to prioritize initiatives based on strategic value and organizational capacity
- Monitor project health, risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and delivery performance
- Drive consistent delivery practices with focus on quality, business outcomes, and user adoption
PMO Process Improvement
- Improve project management processes, methodologies, and PMO maturity across the organization
- Introduce and optimize PM tools and reporting capabilities to improve visibility and decision-making
- Promote Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid best practices based on business and project needs
- Drive lessons learned, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives
Leadership & Collaboration
- Coach and mentor project managers and program leaders across the organization
- Build strong partnerships with IT leadership, business stakeholders, vendors, and external partners
- Promote a collaborative culture focused on accountability, communication, and delivery excellence
- Support organizational change management and business adoption activities
Requirements
Do you have experience in Waterfall software development?, * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of project/program management experience with at least 5+ years leading or managing PMO functions
- Strong experience implementing PMO governance, project lifecycle processes, and portfolio management practices
- Hands-on experience with PM tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, Monday.com, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies
- Experience managing cross-functional IT and business transformation initiatives
- Experience working within mid-sized organizations ($1B-$2B preferred)
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with global teams preferred
