Job description
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering?to lead teams building AI Platform, Intelligent Observability, you will lead the strategy, execution, and evolution of Teradata's observability capabilities across AI applications, developer tooling, and platform services. Reporting to the Dir, Eng Observability, this role is responsible for ensuring Teradata's platforms are observable by design-delivering deep visibility, actionable insights, and intelligent automation across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
You will lead teams building observability systems that support AI-driven operations, platform reliability, engineering productivity, and customer transparency, positioning observability as a core enabler of Teradata's AI-native platform strategy.
- Define and execute Teradata's observability vision across AI applications, developer tooling, and platform services.
- Lead and scale teams responsible for telemetry collection, metrics, logs, traces, events, and observability intelligence.
- Establish a unified observability architecture that supports proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization at enterprise scale.
- Drive adoption of observability best practices across engineering teams, embedding observability into CI/CD, DevOps, and AI workflows.
- Partner with AI and automation teams to apply intelligent analysis, anomaly detection, and automation to reduce operational toil and improve MTTR.
- Set operating mechanisms, success metrics, and engineering standards to ensure reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
- Represent observability as a strategic platform capability that enhances customer trust, transparency, and differentiation.
Who You'll Work With
You will partner closely across engineering, product, and platform leadership to embed observability into everything Teradata builds.
- AI Apps, Tooling & Automation Teams: Align observability strategy with AI-enabled tooling, automation frameworks, and developer experience initiatives.
- Platform & Cloud Engineering: Partner to ensure telemetry, monitoring, and diagnostics are deeply integrated across AWS, Azure, and GCP deployments.
- Product Management: Collaborate to define observability use cases that support both internal teams and external customer-facing experiences.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure observability systems meet enterprise requirements for data privacy, access controls, and governance.
- Customer Support & Operations: Enable faster issue detection, root cause analysis, and resolution through intelligent telemetry and insights.
Requirements
- 10-12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership roles.
- Proven experience leading UI or full-stack teams building large-scale, customer-facing enterprise products.
- Deep expertise in modern frontend development with React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of system design and integration with distributed backend services (Node.js, Java, or Python).
- Experience delivering products in fast-paced, platform-oriented environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple teams and drive execution across organizational boundaries.

Benefits & conditions
Pay Rate: 178800.0000 - 223500.0000 - 268200.0000 Annually
Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on geographic location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and candidate experience. Sales roles will be eligible for commission payments tied to quota achievement. All other permanent roles will be eligible for one of our annual incentive plans, which are based on company financial attainment and individual performance.
