Job description
An Oil and Gas company in downtown Houston is looking to hire a Solutions Engineer to join their Information Systems department, working within the Optimization group. This group is dedicated to technical project development that optimizes any piece of O&G production. The Solutions Engineer should come from a background in the field, and will be responsible effectively communicating between the Production Engineers and the software development group. This person could be required to create visualization with Spotfire, or participate in data analytics. However, the main function of this position is understanding the business (production operations), and delivering IT solutions to improve business functions. Lastly, this person must be comfortable working on-site in Downtown Houston 5 days / week.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering 1-3 years of professional work experience in the O&G industry Experience working as a Production Engineer Knowledgeable in production optimization efforts Knowledgeable in software development Strong experience with excel and data analytics Excellent communication and strong willingness to learn Ability to come up with solutions for complex business problems
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience communicating business requirements to software development groups Experience creating visual reports using tools such as PowerBI, Spotfire, or Tableau Experience with SQL or Python programming
Benefits & conditions
Based on knowledge and experience, the hourly pay rate range for this position is $55-$70/hr., Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
