Job description
One of our large retail clients is looking for a SQL Developer to join their team. This client has about 140 SSRS financial and back office related reports that need to move from SSRS to Snowflake. The ETL Developer is responsible for designing and implementing ETL data pipelines. With a focus on Azure and SQL, the ideal candidate will possess experience in building efficient ETL processes and may also contribute to the conversion of existing ETL workflows onto future platforms. About 30% of the time will be maintenance work in SSRS and the other 70% will be new development in Snowflake. Responsibilities are shown below:
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL data pipelines to facilitate the extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into effective ETL solutions.
- Optimize ETL processes for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data integrity, quality, and pipeline performance.
- Document ETL processes, workflows, and configurations for knowledge sharing and future reference.
- Contribute to the migration of existing ETL workflows onto future platforms, ensuring compatibility and efficiency.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in ETL development and data integration technologies.
Requirements
- Must be comfortable going onsite 5 days per week
- 5-7+ years of experience as a SQL Developer, specifically writing complex queries and optimizing database performance
- Experience as an ETL Developer, specifically designing and building ETL data pipelines from diverse data sources
- Experience working with SSRS
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- At least one year of experience working with Snowflake including data modeling, performance tuning, and integration with cloud-based data platforms
- Proficiency in Azure services, particularly Azure Data Factory or similar ETL tools
- Experience working with Databricks
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience customer facing and being able to talk to stakeholders
